I need to return my goods - how do I do this?

Please refer to our Returns Policy.

Which thickness do I need?

We understand that our horse/ponies change shape which could be many reasons – weight gain, weight loss or muscle wastage. The three thicknesses cater for varying levels of fitness, age and workload of your horse.

PolyPads should not be used as a remedy for an ill-fitting saddle; they are ideal for distributing pressure along the back and offering increased back support.

Our thicknesses are ‘Single’, ‘PlusOne’ or ‘Doubler’. The Single is our standard pad, with no additional inserts.

We offer the ‘PlusOne’ option within our pads; this is perfect for those who are slightly underdeveloped along the topline from a lack of fitness, or for those who have reduced from the thickest pad, the ‘Doubler’. The ‘PlusOne’ option includes one extra insert.

The ‘Doubler’ option is designed for horses who need a kinder fit when being re-introduced to work. The gentle, weight-distributing fit is the ideal way to begin recovery and move into a position of fitness. This consists of two inserts. The Doubler is a popular choice for racing yards.

How should my PolyPad fit?

It is important that you fit the PolyPad correctly to achieve the best comfort for your horse and to reduce the chances of the PolyPad slipping back. When you fit your PolyPad, ensure that it is pulled up into the gullet of the saddle to prevent bunching and rubbing, something that could also cause the PolyPad to slip back.

You will need to have approximately an inch of the PolyPad in front of the saddle to allow for it to grip and prevent slipping. This is very important to achieve a secure fit.

If your PolyPad slips, we would recommend that you speak with your saddle fitter to ensure that your saddle and PolyPad are fitting well together. It may be that your horse has changed shape and that a different fit is required.

Can I have my logo embroidered?

Yes, we can embroider your logo from a JPEG, DST or EMB file. If your logo is supplied as a JPEG, the logo will need digitising. This is available for a cost of £25 per logo – you are able to keep a copy of this logo.

Other Questions

Should I use a saddlepad?

Your horse will be more comfortable with a saddlepad on. Without it, it is like you wearing a leather shoe without any socks! Have your saddle fitted with your chosen saddlepad. A saddlepad keeps your saddle clean and is more comfortable for your horse.

Can your saddlepad be too thick?

A thick saddlepad is not always a bad thing, but if the saddlepad is too thick for your saddle and horse combination, it can cause pinching for your horse. You should always have your saddle fitted with your chosen saddlepad.

How often should you replace a saddlepad?

It depends how often your ride and how well made your saddlepad is. Many people have used the same PolyPad for over 30 years! It is a good idea to have 3-4 saddlepads, so that you can keep washing your saddlepads.

How long do saddlepads last?

Saddlepads can last for many years if they are of good quality. Many people have used PolyPads for over 30 years! It also depends how often you ride and how well you look after your saddlepads. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

What are PolyPads used for?

PolyPads are used under your horse's saddle to provide comfort. They are also used as dog beds!

How should my saddlepad fit?

Your saddle pad should be a little larger than the saddle, for daily use. Showing numnahs fit closer to the saddle.

When using PolyPads, ensure that you have at least an inch of fabric all the way around the saddle to allow the saddle to grip and mould to the PolyPad.

What saddlepad should I use?

Use a saddlepad that your horse is comfortable in, that fits your saddle. Consider if your saddle is a GP, Jump, Dressage, Show, Endurance, Treeless, Racing, Side Saddle etc and find a saddlepad that complements this.

What is the difference between a saddlepad and a numnah?

Traditionally, a saddlepad or saddlecloth is a square/rectangular piece of fabric that sits below the saddle. The fabric that extends beyond the saddle can be embroidered if required.

In contrast, a numnah follows the shape of the saddle, so there is no excess fabric.

How do I know what size saddlepad I need?

It largely depends on the manufacturer and the size of saddle you have. As a general rule, 'Pony' size fits from 11.2hh to 13.2hh, 'Cob' size fits from 13.2hh to 15.2hh. 'Full' or 'Standard' size fits from 15.2hh upwards. However, saddle size also comes into play. If you are unsure, look for measurements and compare these to a saddlepad that you already have. Alternatively, contact the manufacturer.
