PolyPads can be used any way around or even reversed as there are no straps or loops to restrict you, giving maximum wear and added value. These classically simple saddle pads have been trusted and since 1987. This PolyPad can be designed with two different pad colours, enabling you to create a different look when the PolyPad is flipped! The binding remains the same throughout the PolyPad, so choose your colours wisely.

The durable polycotton easy-care material with a fibre core will mould to the individual shape of the horse and to the fit of the saddle. It will adapt with ease to your horse’s changing shape over the year. This style is perfect for GP and Jump saddles, keeping horses comfortable under saddle.

NB: Please be aware, the polyfibre insert is designed to disperse compression and not to provide warmth, unlike imitations. These cheap versions provide too more warmth and not enough protection for your horse's back.

Pad length: 66cm (along the spine). Pad width: 94cm (side to side)

Since our launch in 1988, PolyPads has set out to keep your horse’s comfort in mind. Every product that bears the PolyPads name has a mark of quality behind it, accompanied by the knowledge that it has been manufactured with the best quality materials and designed with care and attention.

At PolyPads, we know that horses change shapes for many reasons; be it muscle wastage, weight loss or gain, each horse will inevitably go through changes that cannot always be avoided. To cater for the ever-changing needs of the modern horse and rider, PolyPads pads are designed in varied thicknesses to support these changes. Whilst PolyPads should not be used as a remedy for an ill-fitting saddle, they are ideal for distributing pressure along the back and offering increased back support.

PolyPads are able to offer three thickness in our saddle pads to create the customised fit that each horse requires. Whilst many other have imitated our designs, few are able to match in both the quality of materials and the unparalleled attention to detail that we can offer. The three thicknesses cater for varying levels of fitness, age and workload of your horse. The thicknesses can be used as platforms to step up and down with as your horse changes shape; for the majority of the time, your horse will be best suited to the ‘Single’ thickness pads.

We offer the ‘PlusOne’ option within our pads too; this is perfect for those who are slightly underdeveloped along the topline from a lack of fitness, or for those who have reduced from the thickest pad, the ‘Doubler’.

The ‘Doubler’ option is designed for horses who need a kinder fit when being re-introduced to work. The gentle, weight-distributing fit is the ideal way to begin recovery and move into a position of fitness.

The multitude of options offered by PolyPads distinguish us as the champion in horse comfort under saddle. Why not explore our range to find a pad in your favourite colours, or make your mark with an embroidered design?

Classic FAQs

Will I need a Pony Classic or Standard Classic?

This largely depends on the length and style of your saddle, and the fit you want to achieve. The sizing differences are listed below, but as a general guide, the Pony Classic tends to fit ponies with a saddle size up to 15.5", and any larger saddles suiting the Standard Classic.

Sizings:

  • Pony Classic - Pad length: 57cm (along the spine). Pad width: 84cm (side to side).
  • Standard Classic - Pad length: 66cm (along the spine). Pad width: 94cm (side to side)
How should my PolyPad fit?

It is important that you fit the PolyPad correctly to achieve the best comfort for your horse and to reduce the chances of the PolyPad slipping back. When you fit your PolyPad, ensure that it is pulled up into the gullet of the saddle to prevent bunching and rubbing, something that could also cause the PolyPad to slip back.

You will need to have approximately an inch of the PolyPad in front of the saddle to allow for it to grip and prevent slipping. This is very important to achieve a secure fit.

If your PolyPad slips, we would recommend that you speak with your saddle fitter to ensure that your saddle and PolyPad are fitting well together. It may be that your horse has changed shape and a different fit is required.
